Residents are reminded about snow and ice removal
 Thursday - February 04, 2010

Town officials remind owners and occupants that they are required to remove snow and ice from premises where there is an established sidewalk within 12 hours after a storm ends or within 12 hours after sunrise, whichever is later.

After the snow has stopped falling, it takes about eight hours to clear each of the town’s plow routes. To reduce the risk of clearing a sidewalk and driveway multiple times, wait until crews have completely finished clearing your street, curb to curb.

Do not place snow from your sidewalk or driveway in the street. Violators are subject to a per day fine plus liability for the cost of clearing the sidewalk. Sidewalks should be sanded whenever ice cannot be removed. Public sand is provided during the winter months at the dog pound, 25 Brixton Street.
