Conard High School has been named a second runner-up, in the 2009 Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) Live Green – Win Green student competition, earning the school a $5,000 grant to fund future environmental improvements. 

The school’s "Green Team" produced in a two-minute video and accompanying essay about the school's environmentally responsible practices, and proposed saving even more energy by installing motion sensors throughout the school.

The video was the runaway winner in the People's Choice voting portion of the contest in December.

Bulkeley High School of Hartford was chosen as the winner, taking the top $20,000 grant.
