Blue Back Dental unveils new tooth technologies during Dental Health Awareness Month
 Friday - February 05, 2010

Blue Back Dental has invested in several ground-breaking procedures in time for Dental Health Awareness Month this month. Partners Drs. Edward Molyneaux and Theodore Wu have incorporated the intraoral digital tooth camera and the CEREC digital tooth restoration machine into their Blue Back Square practice.

Intraoral cameras emit a bright LED or halogen light into the patient’s mouth. Because teeth are translucent, dental professionals can diagnose fractures the naked eye would never have seen. Blue Back Dental takes the technology one step further by connecting the camera to a high-resolution computer monitor positioned over the patient, so that the patient sees exactly what their teeth look like before, during and after a visit.

“The diagnostic device that makes the visit to the dentist’s chair seem like a video game for kids,” Wu said.

The CEREC tooth restoration machine makes ceramic restorations immediately on-site. The digital 3-D camera creates an optical impression of a patient’s mouth and software then allows the dentist to design a restoration milled on site and then bonded in the patient’s mouth.

“In the past, the process of getting a crown could take up to three weeks,” said Dr. Molyneaux.

“CEREC is one of most in-demand treatments in cosmetic dentistry,” Wu said.
