Local Forecast: Nate could impact Carolinas

Low temperatures Saturday morning should be in the middle 60s. This front will come into western Mass Sunday morning/early afternoon with a few showers possible. Sunday brings a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm or shower. Partly sunny - high near 78. The risk of a shower now appears to be very low.

Expect highs all week to be in the upper 80s to lower 90s and heat indices topping out in the mid 90s. Then as it lifts through CT skies will turn partly cloudy and it will become warm and increasingly humid. A warm front will pass through CT tomorrow. Windy, with a north northeast wind 14 to 19 miles per hour increasing to 24 to 29 miles per hour in the afternoon. There could be a sprinkle or some spotty drizzle, but that's about it.

Today: The high temperature for today will be 78 degrees with cloudy skies with steady rain throughout the afternoon.

Through tonight: Dew points will actually be on the rise overnight, as a tropical air mass rushes into the region. Warm and dry weather holds for Monday with highs near 90. Highs in the 60s to near 70.

Tropical Storm Nate is starting to become more organized out in the southwestern Caribbean. The forecast track looks the same as the past several days, moving north-northwest, then north through the central Gulf on Saturday, and to the Gulf coast Saturday night and early Sunday. We are on the cusp of an official drought and could really use the rain. The heavier rains are expected in the Upstate.

For the second half of the work week a high will slide over the southeast from Texas causing summer-like conditions to stick around a little longer and keep the cooler air locked to the north.
