Police investigate five 'acid attacks' in east London

One of the victims was said to have suffered "life-changing" injuries during one of the attacks, which were carried out by two male suspects on a moped.

Following the attack in Hackney Road, police said two men on a moped threw an abrasive chemical at a man in Islington at 10:49pm.

A 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of robbery and grievous bodily harm.

They threw a noxious substance into his face before one of them jumped on to his moped and drove away. "I would urge businesses and parents to challenge those who they think may be trying to obtain or carry these substances as this could help prevent serious offences and life-changing injuries being caused".
