Jury asks another question in Bill Cosby case

Cosby's lawyer has said the two were lovers sharing a consensual sexual encounter. Jurors have spent a total of about 16 hours over two days discussing the case and going over evidence with the judge.

More than 50 women have come forward with decades-old allegations of sexual misconduct in recent years, but Cosby's representatives have always maintained his innocence. Prosecutors portrayed accuser Andrea Constand as a fearless victim seeking justice, while Cosby's lawyers claimed she was a former lover who fabricated her account of the alleged assault.

Testifying in 2005, Cosby said he had obtained several prescriptions for Quaaludes in the 1970s and offered them to others "the same as a person would say, 'Have a drink, '" according to the deposition, which was read to the jury.

In later police interviews, Constand said she had spent time alone with Cosby at his home prior to the alleged assault, including one night when he tried to unzip her trousers and kiss her.

"Her response was that it had not happened but she could say it happened and file charges, file a civil suit and get the money", Jackson's statement said.

Defense lawyer Brian McMonagle told the court Cosby and Constand had a consensual sexual relationship and appeared to scold his client.

So Jackson, whose statement was issued to the court on November 20, permitted Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt to read what the jury may have considered compelling testimony.

The defense focused on inconsistencies in Constand's statements about certain details of the alleged assault and pointed out that she remained in contact with Cosby for months afterward. Constand said that he had given her a pill hidden in an alcoholic drink and proceeded to molest and sexually assault her when she was unconscious.

Constand said on the witness stand she didn't know Jackson. Constand's lawyer says Jackson isn't being truthful.

Through three notes to the presiding judge, the jurors signaled possible divisions as they asked to take a new look at the premier pieces of evidence presented by each side in the fiercely contested trial.

The sequestered jury has returned to the courtroom four times with questions during their deliberation.

Both Constand, now 44, and Cosby agree the performer gave her pills on the night in question.

Mr Cosby declined to testify in this case, but extracts from his previous deposition were read aloud for about 30 minutes in court.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) - The jury in the Bill Cosby sexual assault case, weighing charges that could send him to prison for the rest of his life, drilled down Tuesday on what the TV star said happened inside his suburban Philadelphia home and how he characterized his relationship with the accuser.

Jurors will reconvene Tuesday morning after deliberating for four hours Monday night.

Cosby testified under oath more than a decade ago as part of her civil suit against him.

Nonetheless, the comedian whose storytelling artistry fueled a $400 million fortune went quiet when he had the chance to take the stand, unwilling to risk cross-examination about his 60 other accusers if he denied ever drugging or molesting anyone.

"And when there's high profile cases, we do have a lot of survivors who are either triggered by the experience or feel now is the time to start talking about some of the abuse they experienced", said Jacobs.

Jurors reviewed more than a dozen passages from Cosby's deposition. It seems like it'd be a pretty big story if the dozens and dozens of women who have accused Bill Cosby are all lying as part of a massive conspiracy dragging Cosby down because he told black people to pull their trousers up.
