Clippers announce Blake Griffin to miss rest of playoffs with toe injury

Forward Blake Griffin left Friday's Game 3 win over the Utah Jazz with what was described as a bruised right toe, not to return. The Los Angeles Clippers are allowing 42 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 37.8 rebounds per game.

Griffin and point guard Chris Paul were lost to injuries previous year, and the Clippers blew a 3-1 series lead against Houston in 2015.

Blake Griffin is out for the series, Rudy Gobert returned for Game 4 and Gordon Hayward only managed to play in nine minutes due to food poisoning on Sunday night. But Exum took him off the floor, igniting Utah's game-deciding rally. But that's what makes Johnson's work in this series all the more thrilling: Johnson is old and Iso Joe is anachronistic, but dammit if he isn't proving that it can still be fun to watch a guy dribble the grip off a ball before finding the net.

Utah has the momentum heading into Game 5, but the Clippers should benefit from a return to their home court. We've really become numb to it. He basically either scored or assisted on every basket (down the stretch). And we know that.

The score was 84-79 Clippers, but the Jazz would soon benefit from a 25-11 scoring run during the final 6:57 of play, including a crucial pull-up jumper that gave Utah a one-point lead with just 3:55 remaining.

Though the Clippers previously survived without Griffin, this was a game in which they missed him. "He wanted to play and got out there and just didn't have anything". "We were able to get stops which fueled our offense".

"Joe Johnson, he just took over the game", said Rodney Hood, who added 18 points off the bench.

The Jazz have proven to be a hard test, even without Defensive Player of the Year candidate Rudy Gobert for most of the series. Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday in Los Angeles.

In the Game 3, the Clippers Chris Paul scored 34 points, 7 rebounds, and 10 assists in this first round series. Griffin has been ruled out for the rest of the postseason, increasing the pressure on the rest of the Clippers. "It was 87-80, and that's on me".

"We came here to get back home court". Everybody doesn't get an opportunity to see that.

Go Browns: New Browns QB DeShone Kizer, a Toledo native was introduced on the Jumbotron, as were Joe Haden and Bernie Kosar. The game turned, said Lowry and DeRozan, on Toronto's defensive lapses. "It didn't feel good, but it's a long series".

Derrick Favors started at center and Boris Diaw opened at power forward.Snyder said he and Doc Rivers have talked about how both teams have been injury plagued this season. "Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles, those two in particular were phenomenal tonight".

"He's a tough shot-maker". The Jazz outscored the Clippers 58-36 in the paint, a sharp contrast to Game 2 and 3, in which the Clippers outscored the Jazz by a combined 42 points in the paint. He has not played in the series.

The Jazz are already in the position of navigating the postseason without one of their best players.

"The bottom line is nobody will remember who is playing and who is not playing", Snyder said. This is now the second consecutive year in which Griffin was injured in the first round of the playoffs. Rudy Gobert, who sustained a hyperextended left knee less than 20 seconds into the opener, returned for Game 4 to deliver 15 points and 13 rebounds. There was concern he was done for the season when he went down.

The team announced Saturday that the five-time All-Star was diagnosed with an injury to the plantar plate of his right big toe.
