Jeb Bush-Derek Jeter group reportedly has agreement to buy Marlins

Marlins owner and CEO Jeffrey Loria, here congratulating Marcell Ozuna after an April 11 win, is reportedly selling to a group led by Derek Jeter and Jeb Bush.

Bahr writes that reports of Jeter being actively involved as a potential owner of the franchise began to surface earlier this month, and the Miami Herald reported last week that Jeter and Bush - both of whom had been leading rival groups to buy the Marlins - had combined their efforts. According to the Miami Herald, the team gets about $20 million a year from Fox, the lowest in Major League Baseball. Sports franchises have skyrocketed in value ever since Steve Ballmer doled out $2 billion for a Los Angeles Clippers team that was believed to be worth a quarter that amount.

The loathsome Loria, who once dropped the Marlins payroll to $20 million, could receive almost $1 billion from the sale.

Cassini Has Made Earth Feel Small, But Part of Something Bigger
Twenty-two transits are planned until September, when Cassini goes in and never comes out, vaporising in Saturn's atmosphere. It then added: "Zoom into Cassini's last view of Earth and you can also see the moon - a smaller, fainter dot to the left".

Sale of the Marlins would be widely applauded in South Florida, where Loria has become unpopular because of his tight budgets, payroll purges and a financing agreement for 5-year-old Marlins Park widely viewed as unfair to taxpayers.

The money-losing Marlins can add to their bottom line in a couple of key ways. That deal would have been for a reported $1.6 billion or so. You are allowed to make unlimited "Please clap" jokes, though.

Maybe having a member of one of the top political families and one of the greatest ballplayers of all-time onboard will inject a winning culture back into the team.

In the end, expect Jeter to be the one to finally land Jeb in the White House - to celebrate his championship with this president or the next one. Romney's group also included former Braves and Mets pitcher Tom Glavine.

Bush is attempting to follow in the footsteps of his eldest brother, former President George W. Bush.

Europa League draw:Man Utd v Celta Vigo , Ajax v Lyon
It would also be United's first European final since they lost the 2011 Champions League decider against Barcelona at Wembley. Elsewhere, Ajax reached its first European semifinal in 20 years with a 4-3 aggregate win over Schalke after extra time.

Jeter's teams won 22 postseason series - 22 - including five World Series titles. Unfortunately he's stuffing his pockets on his way out.
